Basic requirements for carbon fiber construction

(1) The structural columns, floor slabs and walls at the corners of wooden structural columns should be stripped of the surface and plastered, and the surface of the wooden structural columns should be treated in a flat state. Then use epoxy putty material to form a smooth arc, the radius should be more than 20mm.

(2) Use an angle grinder to grind the positive angle into a smooth arc with a radius of more than 20mm.

(3) Clean up all defects existing on the surface of the wooden structure column, such as loosening, transportation and embrittlement.

(4) The mass per unit area of carbon fiber wrap used in construction should be above 300g.

(5) According to the actual situation of the structural column to be strengthened, combined with relevant experience, use appropriate supporting structural glue.

(6) The on-site temperature and humidity conditions should be able to meet the construction requirements. When the conditions are not met, construction is not allowed, that is, the indoor temperature should not be lower than 5°C, and the humidity should not exceed 85%.


Carbon fiber construction procedures

Construction procedure of carbon fiber reinforcement: measure and pop up the sticking contour of carbon fiber wrap → base layer treatment → base layer acceptance → apply a layer of primer after the base layer is qualified → primer acceptance → do leveling treatment after the primer is qualified → evenly apply the dipping glue → Paste the carbon fiber wrap → apply the second impregnation glue → paste the second carbon fiber wrap → repeat the above process until the last layer of carbon fiber wrap is adhered → itemized quality acceptance → maintenance. The actual construction must be carried out in strict accordance with the above procedures, which is an important prerequisite for ensuring the smooth completion of construction and construction quality.




At present, the carbon fiber reinforcement construction of the wooden structure column of this building has been successfully completed. After testing, the performance of the wooden structure column has been significantly improved after the reinforcement, which satisfies the current use requirements well. It shows that it is feasible to use carbon fiber reinforcement technology to strengthen wooden structure columns, and the above construction methods are reasonable and feasible, which can provide reference for similar structural reinforcement projects.
